Field Management Module - User Guide

Introduction

The Field Management Module allows users to define, visualize, and subdivide fields into blocks, providing an organized way to manage field operations. This guide explains how to create, edit, and manage fields, blocks, and study instances within the module.


1. Accessing the Field Management Module

Please contact your BMS administrator/focal point for assistance on permissions.

To access the Field Management Module:

  1. Ensure you have the appropriate instance-level permissions assigned.

  2. Navigate to the top menu and select Fieldmap Manager

2. Managing Fields

2.1 Creating a New Field

  1. Open the Fieldmap Manager.

  2. Use the map to navigate to the desired location:

    • Move the map using the mouse or enter a location manually.

  3. Click Add Field.

  4. Draw a polygon on the map to define the field boundaries.

  5. Click Save once satisfied with the shape.

  6. Enter a Field Name

 

2.2 Editing a Field

  1. Select the Field you want to edit.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Modify the name or associated location.

  4. If no blocks are associated with the field, you can also adjust the position, size, and rotation of the field polygon.

  5. Click Save to apply changes.

2.3 Deleting a Field

  1. Select the Field you wish to delete.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. Confirm the deletion.

    • Note: A field can only be deleted if it has no associated blocks.

3. Managing Blocks

3.1 Creating a Block within a Field

  1. Select an existing Field.

  2. Click Add Block.

  3. Enter a Block Name and optionally associate it with an existing location.

  4. Draw a polygon within the Field boundaries.

  5. Click Save when satisfied with the shape.

3.2 Editing a Block

  1. Select the Block you want to edit.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Modify the name or associated location.

  4. If no Study Instances are assigned to the Block, you can also adjust the position, size, and rotation.

  5. Click Save.

3.3 Deleting a Block

  1. Select the Block to be deleted.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. Confirm the deletion.

    • Note: Blocks can only be deleted if they have no associated study instances.


4. Viewing Blocks and Study Instances

4.1 Viewing Blocks in a Field

 

 

  • Select a Field to display all associated Blocks.

  • The map will highlight the Field and its Blocks.

4.2 Viewing Study Instances in a Block

  • Select a Block to display the list of associated Study Instances.

  • The map will highlight the Block and its Study Instances.

 


5. Assigning and Managing Study Instances

 

5.1 Viewing Unassigned Study Instances

  • Navigate to the Unassigned Study Instances section.

  • Filter the list by Crop, Program, Study, or Environment.

5.2 Assigning a Study Instance to a Block

  1. Select an Unassigned Study Instance.

  2. Click Assign.

  3. The system will project the study layout onto the selected Block.

  4. Adjust the position, size, and rotation of the study instance.

  5. Click Save.

5.3 Editing the Position of a Study Instance

  1. Select a Study Instance within a Block.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Adjust the position, size, and rotation.

  4. Click Save.

5.4 Removing a Study Instance from a Block

  1. Select a Study Instance in a Block.

  2. Click Remove.

  3. The Study Instance will return to the Unassigned queue.
