This tutorial series describes how to design and manage a Breeding Management System (BMS) study planted with five doubled haploid (DH) maize lines. The scenario follows five promising DH maize lines newly introduced to a maize breeding program. The lines will be planted in a study of five non-randomized plots. The DH lines planted in the study will provide the basis for three activities.

Tutorial Steps (教学步骤)

  1. Review the DH lines to be used in the study.

  2. Design study: 5 plots, single location, non-randomized.

  3. Design diallel crosses and generate hybrids in the database. Crosses are generative breeding methods expected to increase genetic diversity in offspring relative to the parents.
