v22 Study Germplasm

About

The list of germplasm to be used in the study, and role (or type) of germplasm entries in the context of the study (Test, Check/Control, etc), and entry details are defined in the Germplasm and Checks tab.

Add Germplasm Descriptors

Notice the default list of entry details that will be included in the study.  Entry details are list-specific and have been added via https://ibplatform.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BMS/pages/2627667196/v22+Germplasm+Lists#Add-and-Remove-Entry-Details. Once added, the information can be selected to appear in this section too.

Additional entry details can be selected by clicking the Add button.

New Entry detail variables are defined in Ontology Manager (see https://ibplatform.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BMS/pages/2627669790/v22++Manage+Ontologies#Add-%26-Edit-Variable )

Choose Germplasm List

Click Browse to select the germplasm list for use in the study

Actions

Click on Actions to reveal options for:

  • replacing germplasm entries in the study

  • adding new germplasm entries in the study

  • importing germplasm entry details relevant to the study

  • setting germplasm entry types specific to the study

Replace Germplasm

  • Tick the germplasm for replacement.

  • Go to Actions, then Replace Germplasm.

  • Apply filters to find germplasm of interest to use as the replacement. Select.

If the experimental design has already been generated, you will need to confirm the replacement.

Add New Entries

  • Select Add New Entries. Use the germplasm filters to find germplasm of interest to add to the study. If the experimental design has already been generated, the new entry will not appear until the previous design is deleted and the design regenerated.

Import Entry Details

Set Entry Type

By default, all germplasm entries in the study are assigned with type T (Test entry), however a set of germplasm may be specified as "checks" with type C (Check entry).

If the experimental design has been generated, this option will not be available from the Actions menu. You must delete the experimental design to change the entry type.

Single entry

Click on the individual cell under ENTRY_TYPE column to change the type of a single entry. Choose the appropriate type from the dropdown list.

Abbreviation of ENTRY_TYPE

In batch

Tick multiple entries that need an entry type change in one go.

Click on Actions then select the appropriate type from the dropdown list.

Accept.

About checks

Experimental design will determine the placement of checks.

Randomized Check Distribution

If you choose a randomized experimental design, checks will be distributed randomly (see Experimental Design).

Randomized Complete Block Design with 25 test entries, 2 checks, 1 environment, and 3 replications.

Uniform Check Distribution (Non-Random)

Non-randomized designs, based on entry list order, allow for the specification of uniform check interval spacing (see Experimental Design).

Entry List Order design with 25 test entries, 2 checks, 1 environment, and 0 replications.

Columns

Click the Columns button to reveal various germplasm descriptors than can be included in the studybook (or fieldbook).

Additional information such as Cross, GroupID, Female & Male Parents, Attributes and Passport details can appear in the studybook whenever such information are available for the germplasm.

Select the necessary descriptors by ticking the corresponding boxes.

Apply.
