Click on the blue hyperlink text under ENTRY_TYPE column to change the type of a single entry. Choose the desired type from the dropdown list.
Click on Actions then Set Entry Type to modify multiple entries in a batch.
The list of germplasm to be used in the study, and role (or type) of germplasm entries in the context of the study (Test, Check/Control, etc) are defined in the Germplasm and Checks tab.
Notice the default list of germplasm descriptors that will be included in the study. Additional germplasm descriptors can be added.
Click Add. Search for the desired descriptor by typing the starting letters into the textbox at the top of the dropdown menu, select a descriptor then click on + Add
Choose an existing germplasm list to be evaluated by clicking on the Browse link. Select desired germplasm list.
Tick the germplasm for replacement. Choose Replace Germplasm from Actions menu. Use the germplasm filters to find germplasm of interest to replace. Select.
If the experimental design has already been generated, you will need to confirm the replacement.
Select Add New Entries. Use the germplasm filters to find germplasm of interest to add to the study. If the experimental design has already been generated, the new entry will not appear until the previous design is deleted and the design regenerated.
By default, all germplasm entries in the study are assigned with type 'Test entry’, however a set of germplasm may be specified as "checks". If the experimental design has been generated, this option will not be available from the Actions menu. You must delete the experimental design to change the entry type.

Experimental design will determine the placement of checks.
Randomized Check Distribution
If you choose a randomized experimental design, checks will be distributed randomly (see Experimental Design).
Randomized Complete Block Design with 25 test entries, 2 checks, 1 environment, and 3 replications.
The two check entries are randomized within each replication.
Uniform Check Distribution (Non-Random)
Non-randomized designs, based on entry list order, allow for the specification of uniform check interval spacing (see Experimental Design).
